Intro 2.0: Morning Rituals
A themed class for post-intro students ready to build something that belongs together
Service Description
Thursday evenings (6:30-9pm) You've got the basics down, now let's put them to work. Morning Rituals is a themed Intro 2.0 class built entirely around the objects that make a slow morning feel special. Over 6 weeks you'll throw, trim, and finish a cohesive collection of functional ceramics centered on the rituals of breakfast and tea: stackable bowls, pour-overs, mugs, cream and sugar sets, and if you're feeling ambitious, a full teapot. This class is a step up in both technique and intention. You'll work on throwing multiples, fitting lids, pulling spouts, and assembling components, all while building a body of work that actually belongs together. Week 1: Introductions and class overview, followed by a dive into throwing multiples. We'll start with stackable breakfast bowls, plates, and tea bowls and talk about what it means to design pieces that work together. Week 2: Trimming basics, then on to mugs and pour-overs. Two pieces you'll actually use every morning! Week 3: The most technically ambitious week: throwing the components of a teapot including body, lid, spout, and gallery. We'll also throw cream and sugar sets too! Week 4: Bringing It Together One on one instruction and open work time focused on assembling teapot components, plus hand building for any forms that benefit from it. Week 5: Trim-a-Thon + Glaze Prep Final trimming session for all remaining pieces followed by a glazing demo. Students begin glazing their first finished work. Week 6: Glaze + potluck Finish glazing everything, load the glaze cart, and close out the session with a potluck.
