Nerikomi Workshop with Courtney Hassmann
2-Day workshop running August 29th & 30th
Service Description
Learn the art of nerikomi, a Japanese ceramic technique that uses colored clay to create intricate, repeating patterns. In this workshop, students will learn how to layer colored clay to build images and patterns, then transform those patterned clay blocks into finished functional pieces. The first day will focus on designing and constructing nerikomi patterns, while the second day will cover techniques for incorporating those patterns into functional pottery. Additional topics will include tips for making your own colored clay, proper drying methods to help prevent cracking, and trimming and sanding techniques for revealing and refining your finished patterns. When: August 29 & 30 from 1-5pm Where: Denver Clayroom (1553 Platte Street, Unit C100) Cost: $295, includes all materials, equipment and firings
Cancellation Policy
Fees & Schedule Workshop fees cover all materials, glazing and firing, and instructed class time as listed in the specific schedule. Additional clay is available for purchase at market price plus $20 per bag to cover bisque and glaze firing fees. Class section switches may be requested up to 1 week prior to the start of the session and are subject to availability at the time of request. Age Requirement Classes and workshops are open to participants 18 years and older. Personal Belongings Any items left at the studio more than 30 days after the final class may be discarded without notice. Refund Policy A refund or credit (minus a $20 processing fee) may be issued if the request is received at least two weeks before the start of the class or workshop. With less than 48 hours notice, a credit may be issued only if the spot can be filled. No refunds or credits will be issued after the start of the class or workshop. Sessions missed due to failure to attend, planned absences, minor illness, or vacations cannot be credited or rescheduled. Hours are subject to change with five days notice.
